'Da Island Life!

Our cabin on the Pacific in Hana! We have the most amazing story of how we ended up at Hotel Hana Maui, a resort which has been featured on the Travel Channel as one of the top in Hawaii. We decided to drive to Hana, which is on the other side of the island through the rainforest and stay for one night before returning back to our hotel in Ka'anapali. We made reservations at a bed & breakfast for $40, which is quite the steal in Maui. We arrived after a long day of hiking and exploring to a run down, slightly scary "bed and breakfast" in the middle of nowhere. The owner, an older gentlemen, well into his 80's, showed us to our room and proceded to tell us how the room doesn't have a lock and we need to keep the windows open, "just in case the gas stove is leaking", which we could clearly smell. We decided to drive to the Hotel Hana Maui just to grab a bite to eat; it's the only place open in Hana for dinner. The cheapest thing on the menu was a hamburger for $19, and then you had to pay extra for fries. So, we decided to skip dinner and focused our attention on deciding whether to chance it at our gas fume saturated "bed and breakfast" room or look into staying the night at Hotel Hana Maui. I mean, the "bed and breakfast" was quite a deal, but in the end Aaron decided it wasn't worth it so he went ahead and got us a room. The best part was when Aaron ever so cleverly made mention that we were on our honeymoon and the front desk clerk upgraded us to our own private bungalow on the Pacific! Needless to say this was one of the best experiences we had in Maui. We suggest everyone stay Hotel Hana Maui while visiting Hana!

Just relaxin under the palms by the Pacific in Hana...

Aaron was pulled onto stage by the keiki's (kiddies) and he performed quite a hula. His hips were shaking like crazy, and the crowd loved it! Some older women even approached Aaron and asked for his autograph! Fun times!

For one of our last nights in Maui we dined at world famous Mama's Fishouse and ate some of the freshest catch. We had stuffed Mahi Mahi, which was caught by a local fisherman.

We are headed back to the mainland but will never forget our time in Maui!

Aloha!
